Mr. Stanley J. Kopala

Mr. Stanley J. Kopala, 85, of Adams, died on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center-North Adams.
He was born in Adams on April 17, 1932, a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Czaja) Kopala. He attended schools in Adams.
Mr. Kopala was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict having served with the United States Army until receiving his Honorable Discharge as Sergeant on October 29, 1954.
Following his discharge Mr. Kopala worked for various construction companies building the flood control system in Adams. He then owned and operated Stanley J. Kopala and Sons Builders for the last 55 years.
He was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams. He was a longtime member and past commander of the Adams Post 160 American Legion. A member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, North Adams. A lifelong member of the Polish National Alliance, Adams, the Adams Sno Drifters, the Savoy Kanary Kats, the Berkshire Snow Seekers and the Snowmobile Association of Massachusetts. He had served on the Mt. Greylock Advisory Board and had been an Adams Town Meeting Member.
His wife, the former Sylvia Dubis whom he married on April 4, 1950, died on August 26, 2008.
He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Clermont and her husband Eric of Adams;
two sons, David Kopala and his wife Pamela of Bennington and John Kopala of Springfield;
six grandchildren, Stephanie Dix and her husband Daniel, Jacqueline Hoffman and her husband Ryan, Eric W. Clermont, Jr., Steven Clermont and Matthew and Julia Kopala; two great granddaughters, Sierra and Hazel; his brother-in-law John "Bobby" Dubis and his wife Patricia, his sister-in-law Elsie Dubis, his longtime friend David Smachetti and his beloved cat Tina and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sons, Steven, Joseph and James Kopala and by his brother Chester Kopala and his sister Jessie Dziegiel.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 1st at 11:30 A.M. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 12:30 P.M. in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Friday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
