Mr. Shaun Patrick Gallagher, 64 years young, of Lanesboro, passed away on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Shaun, the fifth child of seven children born to the late John Elliott Gallagher and Ellen M. (Roberts) Gallagher.
Shaun as a child contracted meningitis at eighteen months of age. As a result of his illness he suffered hearing loss, speech impairment along with cognitive deficiencies. He overcame many of life's obstacles and to the fullest, Shaun lived. He touched the hearts of many and most people he encountered.
He resided at an BC/ARC home in Lanesboro from 1984 to the present. Along with his very special friend Darlene and good friends, Ernie and Chris.
Shaun's passions were water color paintings, having sold some of his artwork at his art shows. Bowling, dancing, yoga and visits to Barnes and Noble for a weekly coffee, almond croissant and the Sunday newspaper.
He was last employed at Zip N Sort and retired last fall after fifteen years of work. After his retirement he transitioned well into BC/ARC Crossroads Activities Day Program.
Shaun will be dearly missed by all the many caregivers from the BC/ARC community. The family of Shaun Patrick Gallagher will forever be indebted to the wonderful staff for their many years of exceptional care. He will be deeply missed by his sister and guardian Eileen and favorite brother-in-law Bruce.
He is survived by his sister Eileen Burke and her husband Bruce, and three brothers, John Gallagher and his wife Ursula, Brian Gallagher and his wife Debbie and Kevin Gallagher, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Karen Lawery and Kathleen Brightwell.
Funeral services and burial will be private for the family.
