Mrs. Rita (Rougeau) Cardinal, 97, of Adams, died on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Williamstown Commons.
She was born in Adams on April 23, 1920, a daughter of the late Philomen and Georgiana (Bazinet) Rougeau. She attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams High School.
Mrs. Cardinal worked for ALADCO in Adams for 30 years until retiring. Earlier she had worked for the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Co., Adams.
She was a communicant of the Parish of St. John Paul II at Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, Adams. She was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne.
Her husband Howard Cardinal, whom she married on April 25, 1942, died on October 21, 1976.
She is survived by two sons, Joseph Cardinal and his wife Beverly of Adams and William Cardinal and his wife Mary Ann of Pownal, VT;
one daughter, Jeanne Garofano of Adams;
five grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her son John Cardinal and by her son-in-law, Craig Garofano. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Philomen and Wilfred Rougeau and by two sisters Florence Perreault and Mary Sugrue.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, January 18 at 10:30 A.M. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, McKinley Square, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Thursday morning from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Williamstown Commons Patient Activities Fund, 25 Adams Rd., Williamstown, MA 01267.
