Mrs. Cecelia "Ceil" Lattizzori

Mrs. Cecelia F. "Ceil" (Mendel) Lattizzori, 102, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Craneville Place in Dalton, where she had resided for the past year.
She was born in Adams on November 8, 1914, daughter of the late John and Caroline Offiara Mendel, one of nine children, and attended Adams schools. She had lived in Pittsfield for many years, where she was a communicant of St. Mark's Church.
She was employed as a wirer at General Electric Ordnance Plant 2 during World War II, while her late husband, Laurence, was serving with the US Army in the Pacific Theater. She later worked at the former England Brothers, Textiles and Adams Super Markets.
Ceil was an excellent homemaker who created very special recipes, and was also an accomplished baker and seamstress. She loved nature and all living things. She was a firm believer in a healthy diet and exercise, and swam weekly well into her 80's, with several 50 mile swimming pins to her credit.
She and her late husband enjoyed travelling, and had visited the Caribbean, Europe, all 50 states, the entire length of the Mississippi River, and the British Isles., among many other places in the world.
Ceil was very loving to her family; she was loved by them and will be greatly missed.
She leaves a son, Dennis L. Lattizzori and his wife, Carol Ann (Furtek) Lattizzori of Pittsfield;
a grandson, Anthony J. Lattizzori and his wife, Ellen S. (Uklinski) Lattizzori of Dalton;
two great grandchildren, Victoria and Alexander;
a brother-in-law, Richard Lattizzori and his wife, Denise, of San Diego, CA;
a sister-in-law, Nellie Mendel, of Adams; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Laurence W. Lattizzori, who passed away in 2015, just two weeks prior to their 75th wedding anniversary; by her five brothers, Isadore, Francis, William, Matthew and Michael Mendel; and by her three sisters, Helen Modzelewski, Caroline Wojcik and Michalina Mendel.
At the request of her family, services will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.
