Mrs. Annette M. (Pytko) Arena, 67, of Dalton, died on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at her sister's home in Adams.
She was born in Adams on January 24, 1950, daughter of the late Francis and Levina (Serre) Pytko. She attended schools in Adams and graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School. She then went on to receiver her Bachelor's in Science Degree in Medical Technology from the former North Adams State College.
Mrs. Arena last worked as a medical technologist in the blood bank at Berkshire Medical Center, Pittsfield. Earlier she had also worked for St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford and Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA.
She was a communicant of St. Agnes Church, Dalton. Her pride and joy was her family and children. She thrived on being a wife and mother and treated her nieces and nephews as her own children. A kind and gentle soul, she enjoyed playing Canasta, cooking, baking and gardening, and was a former member of the Cheshire Garden Club.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Christopher Arena of Dalton, whom she married on January 8, 1983;
one daughter, Madalyn Leigh Edwards and her husband Mark of Radford, VA; two sons, Zachary Francis Arena and his wife Sierra of West Greenwich, RI and Jonathan Christopher Arena of Burlington, VT;
three grandchildren, Ezra, Zoe and Jack Edwards of Radford, VA;
two sisters, Beatrice Bourdon and her husband Wilfred of Adams and Pauline Pytko of Adams as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Paul and Raymond Corbiere and by a sister Irene Koch.
The funeral will be held on Friday, August 11th at 9:00 A.M. from the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Notre Dame des Sept Douleurs Church, McKinley Square, Adams, celebrated by Rev. Steven Montesanti, Pastor.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
Calling hours are Thursday from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Christopher Arena to establish an education fund for Annette's grandchildren through the funeral home.
